The dining table should be large enough so that each guest can claim a 2 foot expanse. The placement of the dining table should also allow for at least a 2 foot passageway between the wall and the backs of the chairs in their pulled out position.

The buffet should be between 36″ to 42″ high and just deep enough to hold a serving platter.
